YAYA’s Facilitation Programs

Facilitation Program Applications are CURRENTLY CLOSED.

At YA-YA our facilitators are at the forefront of the dialogues surrounding the issues impacting our communities. Following a Popular Education model, youth facilitators lead dialogues that propel our communities to imagine and fight for a future free of oppressive policies, practices, and norms.

Educate Through Empowerment

All facilitators at the YA-YA Network begin their journey with the Facilitation Bootcamp, a 5 week-long intensive training in popular education, unlearning oppressive norms, and leading community dialogues. The next step they take is joining the Facilitation Squad where they have the opportunity to host monthly People’s Playlist, do external workshops, and be involved in collaborative projects across our organization. Since Covid-19 started we have conducted all facilitation virtually.

The Facilitation Bootcamp application is not currently open.

We are our Own Educators

Our youth facilitators set the agendas for our discussions at each People’s Playlist. Pictured left is a dialogue we led on the presence of metal detectors in NYC public schools. Along with this, facilitators have the opportunity to lead our Summer Institute alongside staff as Lead Facilitators for our 8 week-long intensive political education experience known as the Summer Institute

The Lead Facilitator Application will be opening very soon!
